HTTP 540 – Temporarily Disabled
(Shopify) A non-standard code some Shopify endpoints return when a feature or storefront is temporarily unavailable.
Common use case
Seen when a Shopify store or a specific Shopify feature has been deliberately, temporarily switched off, e.g. during a platform-side maintenance window.
History
A Shopify-specific extension, not part of any official HTTP specification.

Its meaning is closer to the standard 503 Service Unavailable, but scoped specifically to Shopify's own platform-level toggles rather than a generic web server.
