HTTP 527 – Railgun Error
(Cloudflare) The connection between Cloudflare and the origin's Railgun server was interrupted (a now-legacy Cloudflare feature).
Common use case
Only relevant to sites that had Cloudflare's Railgun compression/acceleration product installed on their origin - a technology largely retired since the mid-2010s.
History
A Cloudflare-specific extension tied to Railgun, a WAN-optimisation feature Cloudflare has since deprecated in favour of Argo Smart Routing.
Deprecated / legacy status
Railgun itself has been effectively retired by Cloudflare, so this code is rarely seen on modern sites - it survives mainly as a legacy artefact.
Did you know?
It is one of the few HTTP status codes tied to a product that has since been quietly discontinued by its creator.
